Shortcuts & Small Habits

The keyboard shortcuts, the ⓘ buttons, and a handful of small habits that make FocusNow feel instant.

Updated July 31, 2026

FocusNow is built to be glanced at, not lived in. These shortcuts and habits keep it that way — in and out in seconds.

The keyboard

On Windows, read Ctrl wherever you see .

  • ⌘K — the command palette. Type where you want to go, hit Enter. The fastest route to anything.
  • ⌘1 – ⌘7 — jump straight to a view, in sidebar order: Dashboard, Analytics, Insights, Activities, Calendar, Sessions, Settings.
  • ⌘\\ — collapse the sidebar to icons. Same shortcut brings it back.
  • The ⓘ buttons

Any time a metric makes you pause — what exactly counts as "neutral"? — look for the small next to it. Every card and chart carries a plain-language explanation of what it measures and what's excluded, in your language. No metric in FocusNow should require faith.

    Small habits that pay off

  • Click the timeline. Any block on the Dashboard timeline opens a detail panel — what app, how long, what it counted as. The fastest way to answer "what was that red stretch at 3pm?"
  • Search, don't scroll. Activities and the Calendar day view both have search. Looking for one specific site or document title beats scanning a list.
  • Pause from the widget. During a session, the floating widget has its own pause/resume button — no need to find the main window when the doorbell rings.
  • Fix categories the moment you notice. Wrong category on the timeline? ⋯ → Change category takes five seconds now and makes every future day more accurate. Your Focus Score is only as honest as your categories.
