At FocusNow, we believe your productivity data is deeply personal. Before anything else, here is our commitment to you:

• We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data
• We never share your activity data with advertisers or data brokers
• We never take screenshots of your screen
• We never record keystrokes, mouse clicks, or form inputs
• We never use your data for advertising or marketing profiling
• You can delete all your data at any time — permanently and irreversibly

2. Data Controller

FocusNow is developed and operated by Barbaros Zongur, based in Turkey. As the data controller, we are responsible for deciding how your personal data is processed. For all privacy-related inquiries, you can reach us at privacy@focusnow.ai.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide you with productivity insights. Here is exactly what we collect and why:

• Account Information — your email address, display name, and authentication credentials (to create and manage your account)
• Activity Data — active application names, window titles, focus session durations, productivity categories, and daily usage patterns (to generate your productivity analytics)
• Device Information — operating system type, app version, and device identifier (for service functionality and troubleshooting)

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively to provide and improve the FocusNow experience:

• Provide automatic productivity categorization and analytics dashboards
• Sync your data across devices for seamless access to your productivity history
• Generate personalized focus insights and productivity reports
• Send service-related communications (updates, security alerts)
• Diagnose technical issues and improve app performance

We do not use your activity data for advertising, marketing profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the FocusNow service.

5. Data Storage and Infrastructure

Your data is stored securely in Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB, a globally distributed enterprise-grade database service:

• All data encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
• All data encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+
• Azure compliance certifications: SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001, GDPR-ready infrastructure
• Physical and logical access controls at all data centers
• A local copy of your data is maintained on your device for offline access

6. International Data Transfers

FocusNow is operated from Turkey. Your data may be processed in Microsoft Azure data centers located in the European Union. For any transfers outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Turkey, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other appropriate safeguards recognized by applicable data protection authorities. Microsoft Azure is our sole infrastructure provider and processes data under a Data Processing Agreement that includes safeguards for international transfers.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• AES-256 encryption at rest for all stored data
• TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit
• Secure authentication with hashed and salted credentials — we never store plain-text passwords
• Role-based access controls limiting data access to authorized systems only
• Regular security audits and infrastructure monitoring

No system is 100% secure. We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

8. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Microsoft Azure (infrastructure provider) — processes data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations and a Data Processing Agreement
• Legal requirements — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
• Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with advance notification to you

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Here is how we use tracking technologies across the FocusNow website and desktop application:

• Essential cookies — session management and authentication on the website (strictly necessary, no consent required)
• Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website (pages visited, traffic sources, country). This data is anonymous and aggregated. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Desktop app analytics — we collect aggregated usage statistics in the desktop app (app version, OS, feature usage frequency, crash reports). This data contains no personally identifiable information or activity content such as application names or window titles
• No advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers
• No social media tracking pixels or embedded trackers

You can decline analytics cookies via the cookie banner on your first visit. Desktop app analytics can be disabled in the app settings.

10. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as necessary:

• Active account — your data is retained while your account is active and you use our services
• After account deletion — personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days
• Legal retention — certain data may be retained longer where required by applicable law
• Aggregated anonymous data — may be retained indefinitely for service improvement (this data cannot identify you)

11. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Data portability — export your data in a machine-readable format
• Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent for optional processing at any time via app settings
• Lodge a complaint — file a complaint with your local data protection authority

12. Children's Privacy

FocusNow is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of FocusNow after the changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
